Frank Kwaku Appiah, a known Kumasi-based NDC serial caller has been granted police enquiry bail after he was arrested for allegedly referring to President Akufo-Addo as a ‘drug addict’.
Appiah Stadium as he is popularly called was arrested early Tuesday at his residence in Kumasi and was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in Accra for interrogation.
He has been charged for inciting people to riot and peddling falsehood contrary to Section 2(7) and 2(8) of the Criminal Offences Act 29.
Meanwhile, Counsel for the accused, Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe tells XYZ News that he is sure of his client’s innocence.
“I am excited. I didn’t want him to spend the day behind bars. We are almost done with the sureties. Thankfully police decided to grant him bail and investigation will continue. I am thankful to the police for the professionalism,” Lawyer Tamakloe stated.
Some party activists were at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department to show solidarity with their embattled party member.
