After President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s maiden media encounter on Tuesday, Ghanaians have jumped into a discussion on the questions asked by journalists and some of the falls of the entire discussion.
Whilst some argue important questions were asked based on well research, others think some of the journalists asked unimportant questions.
Some are of the view that Citi FM’s Bernard Avle’s question on borrowing was well -researched and was not appropriately answered by the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Jones Anlimah, for example, thinks that Dr Bawumia fumbled to answer the question.
Nana Aba Anamoah of GHone TV and Afia Pokua of Adom FM on their part won admirers for equally asking important questions.
As a matter of discussions, many have questioned the Minister Of Information whether Accra is the only region with journalist because there is a feeling that all the journalist present at the Banquet Hall of the Flagstaff House were only Accra based journalist in media houses in Accra.
A former President of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) and a member of the Ghana Bar Association, Lawyer Nana Yaw Osei has criticised organisers of the maiden presidential press encounter for failing to allow fair representation of media houses in the country.
Some journalist in the creative arts industry also felt it disturbing why representatives of media houses in the country did not ask question base on the creative arts industry. Others also blamed organizers for not selecting entertainment media houses like Hitzfm and 4styte Tv to represent and also ask questions.\
Some Ghanaians also expressed their disappointment that President Akufo-Addo deferred questions to his Ministers to answer. The President directed questions relating to the economy and the judiciary to the Vice president, Dr. Mamudu Bawumia and the Attorney-General Gloria Akuffo respectively.
