The Chairman of the Ghana Amputee Football Association, Rev Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, has unveiled a new code for Ghanaians to contribute their quota towards Ghana’s participation in the forthcoming Amputee Football World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico.
In a statement to unveil the code, Rev Adesah disclosed that every Ghanaian should support the Amputee Football National Team, the Black Challenge, to participate in the World Cup by texting *713*3907# across all networks and follow the prompts to donate at least One Ghana Cedi (GH1.00) to the World Cup fund.
“This is part of our special World Cup fundraising activities known as One Ghanaian One Ghana Cedi project that seeks to encourage Ghanaians to support amputee football to achieve more laurels for Ghana.”
He pleaded that, “We are not asking for too much since we believe little drops of water could make a mighty ocean. Therefore, we want every Ghanaian to put that valuable widow’s mite into the kitty to get the team to Mexico for the ultimate trophy.”
Ghana is billed to attend the Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico from October 24 to November 5 and the Association is working hard to raise the funds for the event.
Besides the One Ghanaian One Ghana Cedi project, the Association is soliciting for funds from other individuals and the corporate world to emplane the team to the World Cup tournament.
“We have realized over the years that, government either comes in very late after persistent cries or not at all when it comes to international events of the lesser-funded sports so we are banking our hopes on Ghanaians in general to come to our aid,” Rev Adesah appealed.
“No amount is too small or big. Just text your support every now and then and see your Cedis bring the World Cup to Ghana,” he pleaded.
Meanwhile, Head Coach of the national team and Technical Head of the Amputee Football League, Coach Ali Jarrah, has begun scouting for players towards the world cup.
The former Ghana international goalkeeper is monitoring the ongoing league to identify the best materials to join their colleagues from Turkey for camping later.
The professional Amputee Football players have started arriving in the country from the league break in Turkey and would start preparations with their local counterparts soon.
Stay tuned for more.
