Armah Kofi-Buah endorses John Mahama for 2020
The former Minister for Petroleum and current Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle Constituency of the Western Region, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, has called on the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) teeming supporters to support the former President John Mahama for another victory of the party in 2020.
The NDC is yet to open nomination forms for those who want to lead the party in 2020 general elections but mainly have declared openly their support for the former President John Mahama notably were the ten Region Chairmen, Kofi Adams, some constituency executives among others.
National Organizer of the party, Kofi Adams, on Thursday made it clear that the NDC does not recognize all those aspiring stalwarts and insisted that the party only recognizes the former president, who is planning a comeback once again to contest the next presidential election after being humiliated as an incumbent in 2016.
Currently, about five top notches – former Trade and Industry Minister Ekwow Spio-Garbrah; former University of Professional Studies Accra Rector, Joshua Alabi; Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin; former National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Chief Executive, Sylvester Mensah and failed parliamentary aspirant, Stephen Atibuga – are aspiring to lead the NDC for Election 2020.
Speaking at the NDC Unity Walk at Tarkwa in the Western Region on November 25, 2017, the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle said Ghanaians are anxiously waiting for former President John Mahama to come in 2020 as a President of Ghana to save them from the current hardships the President Akufo-Addo led administration has taken Ghanaians into.
This is the fourth in a series of walks after similar events were held in Accra, Tamale and Cape Coast.
Leading thousands of party faithful in a unity walk aimed at re-energizing the grassroots of the party as part of on-going efforts towards rebuilding the party as recommended by the Professor Kwesi Botchwey report, the former President other NDC bigwigs marched through some principal streets in the Tarkwa township; singing, dancing and drumming.
Hon. Armah Buah couldn’t hold his endorsement and exposed it clear to the teeming supporters of the NDC party to give their total support for former President John Mahama to lead the party into victory.
“We are ready for JM?”, he asked the supporters and supporters shouted, “we are ready for JM”.
He continued and said, “the victory of JM is coming again”.
According to him, the NPP government during the 2016 electioneering period made several promises of which none has been fulfilled especially the the assurance of reducing the electricity bills and petrol.
“When we were leaving power in 2020, the price of petrol was sold at GHc. 16 but today it has been quadruple and we can’t buy it so we need to bring JM in 2020, he charged.
He also that he was nearly had a broken heart in Parliament last week when they MPs were debating the 2018 Budget because there is nothing good in it.
He revealed that the NPP came to power with deceit and propaganda and therefore charged the NDC supporters across the country to work hard for the party and be united.
“We need to go to the branches and mobilise support and also rebuild the party again for victory 2020”, he emphasized.
Per the NDC timetable, the Presidential Election is expected to be held in November, 2018.
