The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asuogyaman Constituency will as a matter of urgency send a hard powered delegation to the seat of government for clarification and redress on the dismissal of the Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority (GPHA). This was revealed to ghananewsonline.com.gh by the constituency secretary Christian Okonfo Addo.
Paul Asare Ansah was fired by President Akufo-Addo without a tangible reasons.
The letter signed by the President which communicated the information to Asare Ansah asked him to vacate his post with immediate effect. It did not explain any reason for the action.
“We as a party are embittered with the whole story, as we speak the president did not find any wrong doing with Mr. Asare Ansah so we will not assume anything, we are preparing to send a delegation to meet the president to seek reasons from him because he can best explain,” he stated.
The secretary did not hesitate to reveal the composition of the delegates who. He said it will include Regional and Constituency Executives of the NPP, Some Heavy Weight Political Pundits, Traditional and Opinion Leaders in the Constituency.
Okonfo Addo discredited media reportage that indicated that the constituency together with polling station executives were threatening mass resignation saying “we have not decided anything of that sort, maybe some individuals through their frustration made those comments, but the party has not taken such stands and i don’t think we will go that way”.
He advised party members, supporters, sympathizers and the constituency to remain calm,
“we all should take consolation from the fact that Mr. Paul Ansah per the letter of his dismissal the president did not accused him of any wrong doing unlike others, lets treat this like an Authority appointing and an Authority dismissing,” he said stressing that further that
“We are embittered because he happen to be an eye for the grassroot both NPP and non NPP, because of his humility and a course to transform the party at regional and constituency level and the GPHA at large, let us not do anything that will tarnish his reputation, he is a Christian i know, let’s help him to build his future carrier to whatever level he want to be”.
