Members of the Privates University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) are in a stand off with some New Patriotic Party (NPP) officials and some unidentified persons who claim to be National Security Operatives after the said operatives stormed the Prampram Campus of the Central University College where delegates of the Private University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG) are holding elections to elect their national officers.
According to the said operatives they had an order from the Jubilee House to stop the elections because the elections were a threat to National Security.
According to the students, the move by the NPP officials led by its regional youth organiser to disrupt the process is because of the fear that their candidate will suffer massive defeat if the election is allowed to proceed.
The Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of NPP, Moses Abor, led some thugs to the congress grounds to cause mayhem as part of their planned agenda to get the election postponed and also, justify National Security’s intervention.
Meanwhile, a former SRC president of the University of Ghana, Edem Agbana, together with some other former PUSAG executives later arrived at the place and insisted that the election be held.
Edem Agbana and his team have brought the situation under control. The team has challenged the decision by the national security operatives and their collaborators from the office of the President to postpone the election.
