The Member of Parliament for the Tema West constituency, Carlos Ahenkorah over the weekend led a campaign against the abuse of Tramadol as he organized a health screening exercise to check the health status of his constituents.
According to Ahonkorah, who is also the Deputy Trade Minister, the abuse of Tramadol is causing more harm to the youth in his constituency, hence, the need to launch a serious fight against it.
The exercise, dubbed “#SayNoToTramadol” registered close to 1000 people from the various communities within the Constituency.
They were screened for various health challenges, including Diabetes, Malaria, Hypertension, Hepatitis B, Cholesterol, eye problems, among others.
Carlos Ahenkorah advised the constituents to go for regular check-ups as well as engage in physical exercise in order to stay healthy.
The Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Tema West, Nana Boakye, also advised the Youth to abstain from the intake of unauthorized drugs.
He added that, government is rolling out good measures to create more jobs for the youth to keep them busy and to avoid them from drug abuse.
The health screening exercise was under the supervision of Nurses and Doctors from the Tema Polyclinic.
