The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency in the Western Region, has been chided and reprimanded by sections of her Constituents for misleading them over her achievements. One Ben Noah, a trader in Axim has lashed out at the MP for claiming to champion some projects which were ongoing before she assumed office in 2017 as the MP.

This comes in the wake of assertions by some members of the Communication team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on social media which sought to enumerate her credentials. “So, even sponsoring or donations at a public function has become an achievement?” Noah quizzed.

Madam Belinda Anaman, a businesswoman, challenged the MP over her litany of achievements as disingenuous and shameful

“In the first place, per our checks, the MP never sponsored the 2018 Axim annual Kundum festival, hence chronicling it as her achievement is false and shameful, checks from the traditional council records indicate that the tourism ministry paid to the planning committee Ghc7, 000, where an official receipt was written and issued in the name of the ministry and not in her name as the MP, as requested by the accountant of the ministry…

“It is, however, unfair and a disgrace for the MP to carry herself as the sole sponsor and promoter. The municipal assembly also donated Ghc1000 of which a receipt was issued while the president and all his entourage donated Ghc10,000 to the traditional council. There was no donation from the MP as from her office or from her personal pocket … So how come the celebration of the Kundum becomes her achievement? So unfortunate,” she questioned angrily.

According to her, per her knowledge, the toilet facilities being built by the MP in the claim is not from her pocket but that of a government/donor partners projects and can’t also be classified among her achievements since after completion she can’t write on them that she is the sponsor.

“We can pardon her if she admits that through her efforts the facilities were being built but not to take it as her own project and achievement, since she knows the donors may not take it kindly if she’s noticed to bear her names, anyway we will wait patiently for the work to complete and see the inscription on them.

On her part, Mary Abiew, a pupil teacher and a native of Axim who is based in Elubo and also doubles as a contributor to the Axim Youth Alliance (AYA), asserted that the supposed maternity block being heralded as an achievement which is currently under construction at Ewoku, near Nsein is also floored. She said it cannot be tagged as her achievement because it is the brainchild and sole project of the Axim Youth Alliance and sponsored by Axim natives living in the diaspora. They started it to the lentil level and due to lack of funds, the MP came on board, during the 2017 Ewoku Kundum where she donated 100 bags of cement towards the project, “So why say it’s her project and achievement? I was there when she made the pledge,” she stated.

Mary Abiew added that the ambulance donation to the Axim Government Hospital and checks from the health sector of the municipality indicates that she is not the one who bought it, “While the documents bear the name of the contractor building the Axim stadium… We are also aware that there are even moves to request for a refund of the money used to buy the vehicle by the contractor to her as a gift from her health insurance fund and we know it, if someone buys a gift to be donated to your people, you don’t go back to collect or bill your people for that matter the Municipality for a refund because it didn’t come from her pocket as the MP…it is in this regard that we believe the ambulance which has her name boldly written cannot be claimed by her cohorts as an achievement..”

On the issue of the Axim and Nsein town roads project, we all know it was an initiative of the former MP Kweku Tanikyie Kessie which was halted after the elections in 2016. So why is it becoming the achievement of the current MP? So shameful… He added.

Kingsley Nyame who is a native of Kutukrom in the Gwira Traditional Area, challenged the MP to make it known to the number of beneficiaries and their names, hometown, the schools/universities as well as the countries as claimed by the MP….

“We further ask the MP when is the NAM1 Mission coming to inaugurate the Axim Vocational Training Institute into a modern state of the art school as widely circulated by her apparatchiks when they visited the constituency which led the Brewire Chief Nana Edusei to install him as the Nkosuohene….

“We want to know and set the record straight on the misleading information being shared by her ill-informed Communicators,”

Efforts to reach the MP to react to this story proved futile.

Meanwhile, find attached the purported achievements published by the Communication team of Catherine Abelema Afeku led by Alfred Miezah, national service personnel at the Ghana Gas Company Ltd on social media.
