The Deputy National Organizer of the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the Daily Guide Newspaper and Multimedia’s Joy Fm for doing government’s bidding by persistently churning out what he described as NPPs version of the Prof Kwesi Botchway report. This he said, is an attempt to divert the attention of the public from the scandalous GH¢ 15 million Google App renamed GhanaPost GPS that was launched by the government last week.
Mr Akamba made this statement in a Facebook post when bemoaning the kind of irresponsible and cheap journalism some media houses have subjected themselves to and called on all members of the NDC to treat such reports as pieces of trash.
The NDC after the 2016 electoral defeat, set up a committee led by Professor Kwesi Botchway to examine the causes of the party’s defeat and make recommendations to that effect.
After the presentation of the confidential report to the party’s General Secretary Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia by the committee, media houses suspected to be affiliates of the governing NPP have persistently published supposed excerpts of the said report, accusing certain elements in the party for causing the party’s defeat.
But Joshua Hamidu Akamba concluded in his reaction to this report that, this divertion of attention from corrupt practices of this government with the fake report, won’t make the Ghanaian citizen oblivious of his living conditions.
