The Development Queen of Oblieman, a community in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra region, Manye Naa Okunko Adaku Mansa I, in conjunction with Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka I and the Elders have inspected the nature of bad roads in the area. The idea is to assess the needs of the community so as to enable work to commence on construction of the roads immediately.
According to the American based Oblieman Queen mother, it is long over due the dilapidated roads in Oblieman and its surrounding communities are constructed to ease the burden of residents and drivers.
Naa Adaku Mansa I, said the other components needed are gutters and portable drinking water which would all be started concurrently.
These are expected to bring releaf, direct and indirect jobs to the youth and the people of the area and beyond.
Nii Ayitey Anumle Oyanka I, said in an interview with Ghananewsonline.com.gh that owners of affected building would not be compensated because their buildings are already on the road and they need to give way for the construction which they themselves would invariably benefit from.
He said the construction should have started long ago, but government officials, whose names he concealed told him they have awarded the road to a contractor who was waiting for money before he moves to the site.
He said these excuses kept on as the roads let deteriorating and affecting the development of the area, the drivers as other people including pregnant women die, hence his decision to collaborate with the Queen mother to have work commence on the bad roads and some bridges.
The visibly happy drivers and food vendors who were pouring blessings on the Queen mother and the chief told this portal in an interview that they have now known the aforementioned leaders are really thinking about them (drivers) and the residence of Oblieman.
The Engineer, George Padi, the country director, Gigacrete Company that manufactures building materials, gigacrete for road construction said the materials (Gigacrete) would be used to construct the two miles road.
He told this reporter that the factory would be situated in the town to employ the youth to help produce the gigacrete material for the construction work.
