The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has taken the decision to revert to its original logo with immediate effect. This was revealed in a press statement yesterday.
Also restored are the core values of the commission, which are Integrity, Fairness, and Accountability.
The logo of the EC was changed in April 2016 by the Electoral Commission under its previous chairperson, Charlotte Osei.
The now-returned logo had been used by the commission for 24 years before the decision was taken to change it in 2016. This change drew a lot of negative public sentiment, which led to the famous “we saw it; we liked it; we picked it; it makes us happy” statement by Charlotte Osei.
The statement directed that all communications from the commission must be made on the letterhead bearing the original logo which bears the Coat of Arms and a ballot box showing a hand casting a ballot.
The previous logo is expected to be removed from all Electoral Commission buildings and replaced by the returned logo.
