THE Ahafo Development Association and the Council of Ahafo Chiefs have appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo to fulfill his promises of creating the Ahafo Region.
Addressing a press conference at Bechem, the group called for the quickening of the process in creating the region.
The President of the Council of Ahafo Chiefs, Nana Yaw Adu Baah Ansah, who is also the Chief of Yamfo, reiterated the need for the creation of Ahafo Region as it would bring about development.
He noted that the agitation for the creation of the Ahafo Region has been ongoing for the past 30 years.
He said the creation of the region would enhance Ghana’s decentralisation process, strengthen grassroots participatory democracy and also make administration easier.
The President of the Ahafo Development Association (ADA), Yaw Owusu Berempong, on his part, thanked the president for his bold decision and commitment to the creation of the Ahafo Region out of the Brong Ahafo Region and reiterated they have the resources to support the new Ahafo Region.
He called for continued unity from chiefs, youth and all Ahafo citizens to cooperate with government as they go through the constitutional process.
Mr Brempong noted that they are ready to work with the Ministry of Regional Reorganisation and Development to quicken the pace in creating the region.
He called on all the indigenes of Ahafo to support the creation of the region.
