The number of people seeking to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the impending General Elections in 2020 has swelled up by one. One David Dotsey Kwami Kuwadah, a former Assembly member at the Edzranawo Electoral Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region is the latest to make public his intentions to join the race.

At a press conference in Accra on Monday, October 1, 2018, the presidential candidate hopeful said he has already presented his letter of intent to the National Secretariat of the Party and has met all the requirements.

According to him, his call to the flagbeareship contest is divinely inspired because he has on several occasions met an angel who impressed upon him to come and deliver the people of Ghana from hardship and to change the old order of corruption and monetization of the political landscape in the country.

He believes he is the modern day David who is inspired by God to defeat the Biblical Goliath of our time, decapitate him and finally redeem the people of God from the hardships the country is undergoing under the current administration.

“David Dotsey Kwami Kuwadah, being president of Ghana on the ticket of the NDC come 2020, will place God and Ghana first in everything that we will do as government. The wisdom of God will be used to steer the affairs of the country. As you all know, the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God,” he noted.

Kwami Kuwadah, who was a onetime a Branch Communications officer for the NDC at the Hedzranawo RC Mission ‘B’ said he is going to lead and operate a Civil Democratic Revolution that will clear out all the mess and wipe out corruption which he considers to be the worst enemy of development in the country.

“I am seeking to lead the NDC because, I strongly believe in equality. Our 1992 constitution states that, every Ghanaian is equal before the law, but you will agree with me that, that is the opposite of the reality and not practical under our current political dispensation,” he noted.

Outlining his vision for Ghana Kwami Kuwadah said, “My government shall also run an effective Agriculture system, not just to produce for consumption but to put an end to most of the things that we import here locally. My government will also expand the production of all that we grow locally so that we can also have an excess and glut to also extend into exports.”

The NDC is preparing to hold its national delegates conference later this year to elect a flag bearer for the 2020 general elections following its poor showing at the last elections close to two years ago under the leadership of the immediate past President John Dramani Mahama.

Even though the Former President has declared his intention to seek the mandate of his party to contest the elections again in 2020, an unprecedented number of people from his party have also shown interest in contesting him for the flagbearership position. Most of whom have been his own appointees in his government a little under two years ago.

While some of the party members believe that the former president is the best bet against the ruling NPP, others think that the humiliating defeat he suffered in the last elections with a margin of about a million votes difference even as the then sitting president, is proof that the NDC needs a fresh face if it really wants to wrestle power from the present administration.
