Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) is confident of delivering over 126 metric tonnes of Golden Tree Cocoa Powder to all public boarding senior high schools (SHS) by the end of next week.
The cocoa powder serves as the main beverage for first-year students benefiting from the government’s Free SHS policy.
Managing Director of CPC, Nana Agyenim Boateng I, told The Finder that by the end of this week, public SHS with boarding facilities in seven regions would have received their consignments.
He explained that the 126 metric tonnes of Golden Tree Cocoa Powder is for the second term.
He noted that in the first term, over 91.8 metric tonnes of Golden Tree Cocoa Powder was supplied to first-year students in public boarding SHS across the country.
In addition, about 29 metric tonnes of Golden Tree chocolate spread were also supplied to first-year students in public boarding SHS across the country during the first term.
Nana Boateng explained that the students are served Golden Tree Cocoa Powder and Golden Tree chocolate spread during breakfast.
He revealed that CPC is engaging heads of second-cycle institutions to also buy Golden Tree Cocoa Powder and Golden Tree chocolate spread for second and third-year students who are not enjoying the Free SHS policy.
He is hopeful that students who benefit from the programme would end up making CPC products their preferred choice.
The CPC managing director said the supply to Free SHS students would go a long way to promote consumption of cocoa products in Ghana.
