All is set for the upcoming Ghana 60 Years-On Film Summit 2018.

The festival which will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre, according to organizers is being organized to bring all stakeholders of the Ghana film industry together to advocate for an action plan and framework as well as policies that will drive the development of the Ghana Film Industry.

Speaking to one of Ghana’s enterprising movie producers in Ghana, Harruna Siedu Zoree he pointed out that films play significant role in peoples’ lives and that it is about time society and the country at large, pay serious attention to the Ghana Film Industry.

He bemoaned the situation where Western films have influenced the Ghanaian local industry and also averred that the festival is a platform to bring all film actors, producers and directors as well as stakeholders together to forge ahead in a united front in building a strong industry with a brand that will be appealing to Ghanaian themselves and the international community.

He said last year’s Film Summit, which was the maiden edition, promoted the film industry to the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana, in that His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, gave audience to the Filmmakers in Ghana on 17th October 2017, at the Jubilee House.

President Akufo-Addo declared his interest in using his office to support the development of the Ghana Film Industry, and also requested Mr. Richard Yaw Boateng, the National President of Film Directors Guild of Ghana, to do everything possible to bring the Bollywood producers to Ghana since government is ready to give them all the necessary support for them to invest in Ghana or choose Ghana as their preferred location for shooting Bollywood films, documentaries and music videos.

The Film Directors Guild of Ghana has successfully brokered deal with the Indian movie industry.

Dignitaries who will be attending this year’s Ghana 60 Years-On Film Summit 2018 include H.E Lulu Xingwana, South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Augustine Abbey, President of Film Producers Association of Ghana, Rivahrd Yaw Boateng, and National President of Film Directors Guild of Ghana, Samuel Fiscian, President of Ghana Actors Guild and Hon Catherine Afeku, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Meanwhile ahead of the festival, some top Ghanaian and Nigerian actors and actresses have endorsed the Summit and openly declared their support.

One of the Top Nigerian Movie Directors Frank Rajah Arase is enthused about the Summit and showed his support. Others include Adetey Annan, Bob Smith unior, Prince Yawson, Prince Davis Osei, Abdul Salam Mumuni of Venus Films, Roselynne Nisigah, Vickie Zugah and McLord Ice, one of Ghana’s most promising movie directors.
