THE SAGA of leaked documents  involving lavish expenditure authorised by the Director General of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Kwame Owusu, has taken a new twist as Whatsup News intercepts photocopies of Mr. Owusu’s passport indicating  inconsistencies in his age.

One of the said passports was issued in 2014 and scheduled to expire in 2019 has him quota as his date of birth at Ejisu Asotwe.

However another copy indicating another passport issued just about the same time he was appointed as the GMA boss (in 2017) indicates that he was born in  Kumasi in 1953.

The first date of birth would have put him way past a retirement age, while the new passport puts him well below the range of retirement.

Whatsup News has been unable to verify these new documents in the unfolding situation at the GMA.

The GMA was forced to issue a statement recently after leaked documents showed that the embattled Mr. Owusu had authorised over GHC 140,000 for food and drinks for staff and management members of GMA ordered from his hotel Luxe Suits Hotel.

Also, there are leaked documents and correspondence showing that the GMA boss blew over GHC 1.1 million to renovate a two-bed room official apartment in Cantonment Accra.

Critics are calling for the head of the GMA for the reported lavish lifestyle and conflict of interest in a government that has promised prudent spending and has touted its anticorruption fight.
