Climate change has become a global worry with considerable measures taken to address the issue, especially in Africa.
In respect of that, Ghana will host the 2019 climate change summit in collaboration with the government of Ghana, the National Authorities of Local Government Association (NALAG), Non-government actors, Farmers, CSO’s and all Other stakeholders to deliberate on Climate change for lasting solutions on the issue.
During the media launch of the event, the President of NALAG who is also the Metropolitan Chief Executive for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, said the government is committed to solving the climate change challenge and that is why Ghana has accepted to host the upcoming climate change summit in Accra.
The summit is expected to bring about a thousand participants across Africa to share ideas and best practices.
The summit will also address issues like access to Climate Financing in Africa, Agriculture, food and afforestation, renewable energy, among others.
Ronan Dantec, President, Senate, and spokesperson on Climate for the United Cities and Local Government said the problems of climate change in Africa is Agriculture, planning, and financing. He said the upcoming summit will bring hands and ideas together to develop national policies to solve or mitigate Climate change in Africa.
