Ghanaian Wins Turkish Amputee Football Super League

Captain of the Ghana Amputee Football National team, the Black Challenge, Richard Arthur Opentil, has won the Turkish Amputee Football Super League with his club side, Osmanli Engelliler S.K.

The club amassed 51 points from the 18 league matches played, winning 17 and losing one to retain the cup they won last year.

Richard Arthur Opentil thus adds another a to his collection of medals including a World Clubs Championship cup won some two years ago in Russia.

He joined his colleagues to lift the coveted trophy at a colorful ceremony in Ankara, to bring the season to an end.

Coming at the heels of Osmanli Engelliler S,K. is the club of three other Ghanaian Amputee Football players, Istanbul Yeditepe Spor Kulubu, a club they moved from third position last season to second position this year.

Mubarak Mohammed, Cephas Anum and Kelvin Kofi Asare, walk home with a trophy for placing second with 38 points from the maximum points of 54 at stake.

This sterling performance by the Ghanaian players has lifted the flag of Ghana higher in Turkey where Amputee Football remains a dominant sport.

Turkey has a two-tier league with ten clubs in the elite Super League and seven clubs in the Division One League.

Ghana currently has eleven Amputee Football players in Turkey, mostly in the Super League. Turkey is also home to some other African professionals from Kenya and Nigeria.

Richard Arthur-Opentil (Captain), Francis Antwi Darkwah (Deputy Captain), Richard Ekwam, Collins Gyamfi, Attah Yeboah, Mubarak Mohammed, Kelvin Kofi Asare, Cephas Anum, Joseph Amoh, Fuseini Iddi and Hamza Mohammed are all based in Turkey, adding splendor and life to the Turkish leagues.
