The Principal of the Asante Mampong Technical College of Education, Reverend Dr. Victor Nyuieko Avotri who disclosed this said his school has taken delivery of its cheque and expressed the hope that the grant will boost technical education and other Colleges of Education in the country.

He said government has directed that the College be re-tooled with the requisite tools and equipment to meet the demand of the impending National Curriculum framework for Pre-service teacher education in Ghana.
The Asante Mampong Technical College of Education is 95 years old, established in 1922 by Governor Sir Gorden Guggisburg as one of the trade schools in the then Gold Coast. It prides itself as the only wholly- male College of education in Ghana.
The College has over the period under review, used its Internally Generated Fund, (IGF), to renovate all the workshops including, wood, metal, construction and electronics.
The College has also invested in solar lighting system for the new administration block and also invested in printing press which has been one of the College’s most viable income generating ventures.
Rev. Dr. Nyuieko Avotri said despite these efforts by the College, there are many challenges facing it.
He stressed the urgent need for a fence wall to protect the remaining land from encroachers and criminals.
This is because the College has become a serious thorough fare leading to persistent attacks by thiefs.
