GRA Revenue Task Force storms Accra Mall to demand tax

Debt Collectors of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Wednesday stormed the Accra Mall with some selected media houses to collect taxes owed by the management of the place.  
According to John Brahu Abune, who is the supervisor for debt management at the GRA, the management of the Mall has accumulated tax of about Ghc 2,360 over the last two years.

He said several meetings have been held between GRA and the management but without any meaningful result.  

“We spend more than four hours in their office, in a closed door meeting with GRA taxes collectors. At the end of it all GRA asked them to pay the money in full with a penalty,” he stated.

At the end the management issued a bank draft covering the amount owed.

In another development a law firm with the name Peasah Boadu and Co at Shiashie which also owes an amount of Ghc 10, locked up by the task force.  

Mr Brahu Abune advised businesses in the country to always endeavor to pay their taxes to avoid embarrassment.
