Deep-throat information available to The Republic alleged indicates that the Deputy Minister for Health Madam, Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Weija-Gbawe, is currently in a tussle with the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, over who has the power to make some key appointments.
The information indicates that a letter was written to reverse an earlier letter signed by Mr Agyeman-Manu to revoke a suspended Principal of the Oyoko School of Dispensing Optics, Mr. Kofi Boakye, in the Ashanti Region.
The available document indicates that the Hon. Health Minister, Mr. Agyemang-Manu directed in writing that Mr. Boakye, former Principal of the aforementioned School be reinstated.
But Mr. Boakye has in an interview, alleged that Madam Naa Ayeley Mensah, has also written to stop the directive; asking the Acting Principal, one Gabriel Oporku act as the substantive Principal of the school.
This attitude and actions of the MP, according to a displeased Mr. Boakye, has raised suspicion that something fishy might have taken place, hence, her persistence for Mr. Gabriel Opoku to take over the management of the school.
After several calls through the Deputy Minister’s Tigo number with 0272 ****21 which were followed with text messages for over two weeks for clarification on the issue, Naa Ayeley Mensah, has been adamant to speak. Then soon after, another information indicated a fresh letter to reverse the reinstatement of Mr. Kofi Boakye was sent directing him not to see himself as the Principal of the school.
Mr. Boakye alleged the acting Principal, Mr. Gabriel Opoku has now been directed to be the substantive Principal of the school as per the wish of the Deputy Health Minister, Naa Ayeley Mensah, MP.
He hinted this paper that one of the aids to the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said the Minister of Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu indicated he was not aware of the new letter about the reinstatement which was allegedly written to Mr. Boakye, though the letter bears the Minister’s signature.
Also, further checks at the outfit of the Director General, Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, indicates there was no such letter to reverse his reinstatement.
This has clouded the minds of the people of Oyoko in the Ashanti Region, who are expecting their own who doubles as the lecturer and Principal to go back for his post as the Principal of the School.
To this end, the residence and some students of Oyoko School of Dispensing Optics have threatened to demonstrate on Tuesday, July 25, to register their displeasure at the treatment meted out to Mr. Kofi Boakye who has managed the school for years and has brought it this far.
