The Municipal Chief Executive for La-Dadekotopon in the Greater Accra Region, Gladys Tsotsoo Mann-Dedey, has urged all residents in La and its environs to keep their surroundings clean.
According to her, one of her priority areas is to make the Municipality very clean with no fifth on streets of La.
“I want La to be adjudged the cleanest community in Greater Accra,” she stated.
Speaking at the maiden edition of Naa La Beauty Pageant, under the theme: Ambassadors for change, to climax the 2017 La Homowo festival at La in Accra, the MCE expressed discontent over the way some people wrapped faeces in black polythene bags and throw them into open drains.
She appealed to the Landlords/Ladies to apply for the $150 million World Bank-funded Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) Sanitation and Water Project, where they will be supported to put up in-house toilet facilities at 50% subsidized rate.
The pageant has hosted nine (9) pretty and intelligent ladies from La in a quest for a crown and an enviable title as La’s most intelligent and beautiful.
Speaking on behalf of the organizers -AGiDOR Event Services, Dorcas Atswei Koney, said, the contest was to bring together the ladies to be trained to identify societal problems facing La and suggest solutions.
According to her, “Naa La 2017 started from 1st July with the selection of contestants and proceeded with trainings in August.
“The contestants, have undergone massive training with activities such as Clean-up exercise, Float, Trip and introduction to traditional leaders”.
Naa Djama Sowa representing Kowe Quarter was adjudged the most intelligent and beautiful lady of La, she was thus confirmed Naa La 2017.
