Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong has signaled his readiness to face-off with the Privileges Committee of Parliament over his invitation regarding comments he passed in denigration of the August House.

MyNewsGh.com days earlier published a news story on NPP MP Kennedy Agyapong’s response to his colleague MP and Majority Leader of Parliament over the latter’s intervention in the spat between the former and Ace Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

According to Mr Agyapong, if the parliament of the Republic of Ghana were a place to be taken ‘serious’ and not the ‘cheap’ place that it is, someone like Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu wouldn’t have been going round calling himself Majority Leader or minister of parliamentary affairs.

MyNewsGH.com reported the explicit words of the New Patriotic Party loudmouthed MP, who was expressing angry about the interference of his colleague and Majority Leader of Parliament in his (Ken Agyapong’s) ‘fight’ with ace investigative journalist Anas Armeyaw Anas.

Told by Net2 TV host to check his words, Ken Agyapong replied: “No! No! This is my station, I will take him on here. The life I have lived, he has not lived some. No. No”, he insisted on being allowed to ‘dress down’ his leader in Parliament.

“If he (Kyei Mensah Bonsu) likes I will disgrace him. Are you out of your mind? Parliament is cheap that’s why someone like him can be a leader. If he follows Anas the evidence I will bring will shame him. He is just older than me but he has not lived life better than me.” The Loudmouthed Assin Central MP bragged and insulted all at once.

“Is Kyei Mensah better than the judges?” He asked, in reference to judges who were exposed by Anas in an investigative piece three years ago.

“Parliament doesn’t feed me… GH¢11,000 is chicken change. Does he know how much I pay for chop money?” Ken Agyapong boasted further.

Parliament consequently summoned the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong before the Privileges Committee fro his comments.

This follows a motion brought before the speaker by Minority Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, on comments allegedly made by Kennedy Agyapong about the Majority leader and Parliament.

Kennedy Agyapong is reported to have described the House as “useless” for having Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as its Majority leader.

The MPs on both sides of the aisle agreed to the request to haul Kennedy Agyapong before the Committee. Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Muntaka Mubarak stated that he had in his possession, a recording of Ken Agyapong’s comments.

“I have the video and a lot of publication to have referred to Parliament as useless. Mr Speaker, I have the tape here, our colleague is referring to this House as useless. If I am to paraphrase, ‘if this house is not useless, we will not have the likes of Osei Mensah Bonsu to be its leader,” he said.

1st Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joe Osei Wusu said if indeed Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong made such utterances then he has breached the law and needs to be brought before the House.

But the controversial MP, speaking via phone from China in a tape played on Adom FM’s midday news said “I am not afraid of Parliament. I am not afraid. They should go and listen to the tape. I will come and explain. I am not afraid of parliament,” he said.

This comes hours after Investigative journalist Anas sued the law maker for 25million cedis for defamation.
