The newly elect President of the Ghana Union of Trade Association (GUTA), Dr Joseph Obeng, has assured traders and members of the association that he will put in lots of measures which will graduate them from trade barons to captains of industry.

He said this will be achieved through strong collaboration with his new executives and other stakeholders in the trading industry.

He said this in his acceptance speech on behalf of all the newly elected executives at the Association’s National Delegates Congress held in Accra.

“I thereby pledge to work assiduously with my new team in close collaboration with other relevant stakeholders in both public and private sectors of the economy” he said.

“This will help in creating an enabling business environment for private sector to thrive so as to enable us-traders to graduate from trade barons to captains of industry” he added.

Dr Joseph Obeng also appealed to all traders to do all they can to solve most of the challenges facing the trading industry.

“In all these,  I am also aware that when we engage the relevant authorities to let them understand and appreciate our genuine concerns and we also trust them, especially where there is the political will,  I have no doubt in my mind that most of the challenges confronting us will be effectively solved” he said.

“In view of all the aforementioned, I would like to appeal to all and sundry in the trading community to close our ranks and not to sit on the fence but to support in whatever way to help better our lot,” he added.
