Peter Martey Agbeko, 54, is a Communication Specialist with over two decades of experience in strategic communication.
He joined the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) in November 2017 and was appointed Ag. Head of Public Relations in April 2018.
His extensive work experience at various periods cuts across disciplines such as marketing and social research, journalism and public relations.
With this diverse background, he presents a strong set of complementary professional experiences.
He began his career with the Marketing Social and Research Institute ((MSRI), part of the Advantage Group, in 1989.
He was the first Director of the Ghana International Press Centre, serving successfully in that position from 1992-1995.
Since 2005, Peter has served as the head of Corporate Affairs International; an Accra- based private Media Management Services Company.
Over the last decade, he has been engaged as an external PR consultant by C&F Porter Novelli, Nigeria, a trusted business advisor and leader in strategic communications for West Africa.
Over the same period, he has worked as an external PR consultant for STB McCANN, Accra, a full-service agency, which is affiliated to the McCann World Group.
Peter is well versed in new media and strategically leverages social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other platforms.
In the 2016/2017 academic year, he was an adjunct lecturer at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, teaching news & feature writing in the Bachelor of Arts degree students Program.
He was a member of the 2017 Ghana Journalists Association Awards Committee. He was also a member of the five-member compilation team that developed and authored the 724 page St. Augustine’s College, School Reference book (Almanac).
Peter is an alumnus of the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and Swansea University in the United Kingdom, where he obtained an MSc (Econ) in Social Development Planning & Management.
He is an active and long-standing member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), and also a member of the Institute of Public Relations, Ghana (IPR).
