Journalists for Business Advocacy honored by Ghana Chamber of Mines

The Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA) – an advocacy group for Small Businesses in Ghana has been recognized by the Ghana Chamber of Mines for its objective and fact-based reportage on issues pertaining to the mining Industry in the country and for its dedication towards the promotion of Businesses in the country.

The awards ceremony climaxed the 90th Anniversary celebration of the Chamber of Mines which was under the theme: Sustainable and Responsible Mining Industry; a Partner for National Development, was held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

It was to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements and excellence in the performance of industry players within the year under review.

This is the fourth edition of the Ghana Mining Industry Awards (GMIA) ceremony since it was instituted a few years ago by the Chamber.

The JBA group, made up of like-minded journalists who are focused on advocacy for Best Business practices in the country, including the mining industry, was presented with a citation that extolled the sterling qualities of the industry-focused reportage and the constant advocacy the group has been championing.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Sulemanu Koney, presented the citation to the President of the JBA, Suleiman Mustapha, on behalf of the group.

The President, in an interview with Africa News Radio on the sidelines of the event, expressed appreciation for the recognition that has been extended to the group for all the work it has been doing over the years.

According to him, this will not only push the members to dedicate more time to very important issues in the sector that require attention, but also propel them to use their media platforms to demand for the right business conditions for the continuous survival of the mining industry.
