Kumasi Asante Kotoko under the watch of a master tactician in the person of Steve Polack is gradually picking up the pieces together to match towards the top spot in the on-going Star Times sponsored premier league. The team’s resurgence after victories over Tema Youth, Wa All Stars and Abusua Dwarfs is a clear sign of good things to come. Indeed most of Kotoko’s supporters and Sports Presenters like me have been worried for some months now following some poor results. I humbly wish to call on the supporters to have faith in the team and believe that the storm will soon be completely over.
The sudden U-turn by Dr Kwame Kyei Baffour and his management team is doing the magic for Kotoko because nowadays supporters have come to accept the fact that Rome was not built in a day and that there is the need to exercise a little bit of patience for Coach Steve Polack and his backroom staff to rebuild the team. I strongly believe if we all rally behind the CEO Dr. Kwame Kyei Baffour and his management team and the entire team, Kotoko will soon take up its good clothes and be a winsome side. If the players continue to play under no pressure from supporters Kotoko could even win the league title in grand style with about ten (10) matches to end this year’s league.
Very soon Kotoko will prove to all its critics wrong that their great and powerful slogan “wokum apem a, apem beba” went on sabbatical leave and has resume in full swing to fight like a wounded lion to beat any team that comes their way. Fabulous Asante Kotoko the sky is your limit, with God on your side; you shall be the head and not the tail. You are already in the African Champion’s league in spirit and by the grace of God it will manifest in the physical. We are exceedingly glad Coach Steve Polack and his boys have brought the smiles on our faces with their superb performance since the commencement of the second round of this season’s league. Indeed it is true weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning and if it is also true “he who laugh last laugh best”, then Kumasi Asante Kotoko will eat the fruits of their labour.
I, however, want to sound a note of caution to the players not to be complacent, but remain focus and play the remaining matches with vim and vigour and win all their matches convincingly to clinch the ultimate. I will at this juncture appeal to Coach Steve Polack to help Obed Owusu to become a potent striker in the on-going league. He is by far the strongest and best player in the on-going Ghanaian premier league when it comes to winning air balls. I think if he is assign the role of a main striker in the Kotoko’s set up to create chances for his play mates it will go a long way to help the team score more goals. He has a great potential and with little psyche from his coach Steve Polack, Obed Owusu can carry Kotoko on his shoulders by harassing defenders to pave way for his team mates to score more goals which has eluded the team for quite a long time. The power in him should not be made to go waste at all. Finally, it is imperative to put Kotoko strikers on a special training schedule to help them polish their shooting abilities to shoot accurately. Keep it up, Coach Steve Polack and his boys for this brilliant performance.
