A former Minister for Power in the John Mahama administration, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, says he served his country well as a public official and Minister of State, as such he fears no prosecution by the Special Prosecutor or any other state agency.
He said this in an exclusive interview with ghananewsonlneonline.com.gh, following speculations that he might be among the first officials of the former government to be prosecuted when the Special Prosecutor starts work.
According to Dr Kwabena Donkor, who is credited with solutions to the country’s perennial power challenges often referred as “dumsor” the Special Prosecutor will not just get up and start prosecuting. He said the SP must first investigate and get convinced that there are reasons to prosecute before initiating any move.
He said whatever the case might be he is confident he did a good job as a Minister of State and so he will come out clean.
“i have not been cautioned, i have not been summoned and so you can’t be talking of prosecution when i have not been cautioned…to the best of my knowledge the police CID is investigating. Let them come out with their investigation report, and then we would take it up from there. i don’t want to jump the gun,” he stated.
He welcomed also the nomination of Martin Amidu as the Special Prosecutor, while describing him as an astute lawyer who is cut for the job.
He said he has the “truth” on his side and so he is looking out for the investigation report.
