Mama Felicia whips Lucy Sebbie to retain Gt Accra NDC Women’s Post

Madam Felicia Mekpoi Bortey, incumbent Greater Accra Regional Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), has beaten her main contender, Ms Lucy Rio Sebbie, at the party regional delegates conference on Wednesday August 29.

Mama Feli, as she is affectionately called by her supporters pulled 59 votes of total valid votes cast of 103 to whip the Ashaiman based woman, Lucy Sebbie, who managed to gained 44 votes.

The two NDC women in their respective campaigns lobbed the delegates for votes to lead the Regional Women’s Wing to prepare for the national elections in 2020.

Delegates to the Regional Women Organizers office were mainly constituency Women Oranizers and their deputies as well as Women Commissioners of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN)

The two Deputies Jessica Braimah and Alima Issah won 55 and 48 votes respectively to become first and second Deputy Regional Women Organisers of the NDC in Greater Accra.

Madam Felicia in an interview with the Media, dedicated her victory to God, stating, “without God, i would not have won this elections.

She thanked the delegates for retaining her as their regional women’s organiser and promised to deliver on her promised to prioritised the welfare of the party women in the region.

The Regional Women’s Organiser who rose from branch, constituency to Deputy Regional Women’s Organizer and now Regional Organizer for second term said, her victory is NDC victory.

She said, until NDC is declared victorious in the 2020 elections, she would not rest and called on her supporters to continue with the good work to bring the party back to power.

She also promised to bring her opponent on board so they work together to consolidate NDC victory in the 2020 general elections.

Ms Lucy Sebbie in her acceptance speech congratulated Madam Felicia and promised to work with her for the common interest if the party.

In similar development, the Youth Wing if the party has also elected Thomas Nii Ashong as Regional Youth Organizer and Amos Blessing Amose and Mohammed Judah as Deputy Youth Organizers.

Thomas Ashong pulled 65 votes to beat former Youth Employment Agency Regional Coordinator Solomon Nii Afutu and two other candidates.

On the Deputy Regional Organizers, Judah had 57 votes, while Amos also gained 55 votes to become first and second Deputies respectively.

The main regional delegates conference is expected to take place on Saturday 1st September, at the University of Ghana campus.
