It was an interesting sight to behold, when Melcom Ghana, a supermarket chain commissioned its new ultra modern shopping complex at Achimota in the Greater Accra Region.
Following the major incidents the company suffered in 2012, when its five story shopping mall at Achimota near Neoplan, collapsed, trapping some people inside, Melcom has made it a policy to strictly adhere to a continuous quality assurance with regards to maintaining structural integrity.
The newly commissioned Achimota edifice was designed to a four storey reinforced concrete structure with a single level basement parking lot for about 48 cars.
In a related development, chairman for Melcom Group of Companies, Bhagwan Khubchandani has launched Melcom-online platform. The online is a market centre created to expand selling points from the current 38 Melcom branches across the country.
The Melcom online market centre was aimed at curbing the long queue at the Melcom shopping arcades due to process of land and landed property acquisition to meet the size Melcom requires. The Melcom-online is a branch committed to delivering everything, everywhere, every time for consumers.
According to the Communications Director of the Melcom Group of Companies, Mr Godwin Avenorgbor, the www.melcomonline.com, can be assessed with smart phones, computer or any other appropriate device.
He said customers who would like to shop online could do that with the use of mobile money, Visa card, cash on delivery or a master card as well as payment through e-commerce savvy with the Stanbic Bank. As soon as payment is received, Melcom quickly dispatches merchandise to the preferred location for pick-up by the customer, added the Communications Director.
Purchase could be made at anytime and from anywhere through the Melcom online platform. However, customers are appealed to process payment from Monday to Friday for now within the stipulated banking or working hours.
