Military Men burn down Excavator and Machines of Narawa Company Limited

A troop of Military men from the Office of the President raided Narawa Company Limited, a large-scale mining company in Akyem Nsuapemso in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern region on Friday, January 4, 2019, seized about four Excavators, burn their pumping machines, handcuffed the workers and molest them.

The military men who drove in vehicles branded Galamstop are said to have had a tip off that the renowned mining company is engaging illegally and polluting water bodies in the community particularly the Birim river.

According to information picked up by Radio1News, these military men besieged the area upon tip-off from the Chief of Hemang who allegedly revealed to them that the Narawa mining company is engaging in illegal mining, galamsey in the Birim River.

Intelligence gathered also revealed that these military men gave out warning shots which caused fear and panic to the extent that a driver in one of their vehicles while driving, got scared, lost control of the steering wheel and causing the vehicle to somersault a severally. The injured driver is currently seeking medical attention at an unknown hospital.
