A Ministerial reshuffle, including changes in key posts, is likely to take place in the coming weeks after discussions between the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and some prominent persons in his party. Insiders ( Presidency) say the imminent reshuffle is a power play between some powerful personalities around the President. Our source close to the President confirmed the reshuffle and described it as the precursor to a major ministerial reshuffle.
These are the changes Ghanaians must expect from the President in the coming weeks ;
Mr Osafo Marfo – Ambassador to Canada scrapping position of senior minister.
Otiko Djaba – Out
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah- Replaces Mustapha Hamid as substantive minister ( Information Ministry)
Mustapha Hamid – Reassigned to Presidency
Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh ( Napo) – Out
Alan Kyeremanteng – Education
Dr. Osei Akoto – Trade Ministry
According to our source, as part of the President’s plan to restructure his cover, the senior minister position would be scrapped to curb the emerging tension between that office and the Finance Ministry headed by Ken Ofori-Atta.
For those in the camp of the President, this imminent reshuffle is a big stick to punish those who have started challenging certain decisions including the $2.25 billion bond, the appointment of family members ( nepotism) vis-à-vis condemnation coming from the public and its likely effect (negative) on the party come the next elections. According to our source nobody in the NPP appears to know what the President’s game plan is regarding the planned ministerial reshuffle but those likely to be affected see it as responding to the demands of his friends and close family members.
