Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, (MMCEs) have been advised to inculcate the habit of accountability in all resources entrusted to their assemblies by government and taxpayers.
The Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, expressed regret at the situation where authorities take the law into their own hands and embezzle funds including the Internally Generated Funds (IGF).
Hon.Kyei Mensah Bonsu, gave the advice after the swearing-in of Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye , Assembly Member for Abusuakruwa Electoral Area, as the newly elected Presiding Member (PM) for Suame Municipal Assembly (SMA) today at Suame in Kumasi.
According to him, when MMCEs account for their deeds and use the funds to develop their respective areas, it will motivate tax payers to pay their taxes and levies willingly due to the communal benefits they have witnessed.
On his part, Hon Ofosu Boakye, expressed his readiness to tap experiences from other people like Hon Nana Kofi Senya, Former Presiding Member (PM) of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
