The Member of Parliament (MP) for Abirem in the Eastern region, John Osei Frempong, has recounted his first year stewardship as MP for the area.
Speaking to The Punch on his first year in Parliament Frempong said efforts are being made by the government to initiate the one District one factory in an area of Palm oil production at Abirem. The youthful Abirem Legislator said about GHc50,000 of his share of the Common Fund has been utilized on fees payment for tertiary students in his catchment area.
Touching on social intervention programmes he has embarked upon in the constituency, he said about 100 bags of cements was donated to Amuanapraso Community JHS, supporting the New – Abirem SHS with four sets of Jerseys to enhance their sporting activities, among others.
I have also provided all the Basic schools in the District with Volleyballs and sporting equipment of seventy sets of Jerseys.
The Abirem MP named the following communities as beneficiaries of the sporting equipment, Akoasi, Amuana Praso, New Abirem, Ntronang, Nyafoman and Nkwateng.
On employment, Frempong maintained that plans are underway to cultivate some 70 acres of foodstuff as a means of complementing the government’s efforts on job creation.
According to him, his priority is to ensure that residents in his constituency gets their fair share of the national cake.
Touching on the State of the Nation address, he hailed President Nana Akufo-Addo for his foresight in addressing the basic needs of Ghanaians on education, electricity, Health and improvement in the security.
He said the implementation of Free SHS has lessened the burden of parents in the country saying the government deserve a pat on the shoulder for doing more to ameliorate the suffering of Ghanaians.
