The Member of Parliament (MP) for the North Dayi Constituency in the Volta Region, Joycelyn Tetteh, has been appointed Ghana’s Anti-Human Trafficking Ambassador by the International Organization on Migration (IOM).

The announcement for her appointment was made at the Regional Launch of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to Combat Human Trafficking at the Volta Regional capital Ho last week.

According to IOM, Ms. Tetteh’s appointment was based on her past work in the fight against child trafficking, worst forms of child labour and teenage pregnancy.

Ms. Tetteh has also been playing key roles in the sensitization exercise towards combating child and human trafficking by taking the advocacy to a notch higher for the best interest of children in her constituency, region and some parts of the country.

She now has the responsibility to raise awareness and promote the use of SOPs among all stakeholders.

In another development, the Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sent a congratulatory message to Ms Tetteh on her new appointment.

A statement signed by the Regional Secretary, James Gunu, reads in part that “The Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress NDC, sends its warmest felicitations, and congratulates you for being named the Anti-Human Trafficking Ambassador for Ghana by the International Organization on Migration during the Regional Launch of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to Combat Human Trafficking.

“We celebrate you for the unprecedented honor this has brought to the Chiefs and People of North Dayi, the Volta region, and the NDC family in particular”.
