Member of Parliament (MP) for the South Dayi Constituency in the Volta Region, Rockson Nelson Dafiamekpor, has donated some medical equipment and supplies worth millions of Cedis to five health institutions in the South Dayi District.
The items donated include Microscopes, Sphygmomanometers, delivery beds, recovery beds, weighing scales, hemoglobinometers, and sterilizers, among others.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony which coincided with the inauguration of the Medical Outreach programme organized by the Save Africa Foundation at the Peki Government hospital premises recently, Dafiamekpo said his donation is a timely response to the constant cries by the health directorate of the Assembly regarding the inadequacies and the non-availability of such critical health care equipment.
According to him the absence of such lifesaving equipment adversely affect the quality health care services being delivered in the district.
He noted that the health of a community is its wealth. Thus his resolve to do all he could to see to the improvement of health delivery and care in the district.
Receiving the items, the Medical Superintendent of the Peki Government Hospital, and the District Director of Health Services, Dr Alphonse Dzakpasu, promised to quickly distribute the items to the beneficiary facilities which are Dzake, Kpeve, Tsanakpe, Wegbe and Abui/Tsita to serve it purpose.
Dr Dzakpasu however assured the MP that the beneficiary facilities will put the equipment into proper use as they are in dire need of them.
“We aware the equipment are very expensive so they will be properly maintained,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Medical Outreach programme been organized by the Save Africa Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation with a team of medical experts from the USA will undertake a five day medical operations of various medical conditions and ailments of the people in the south Dayi district and its adjourning communities.
