Ghana’s largest mobile telecommunications service provider, MTN, has officially launched the “MTN Hitmaker Season 7” which is one of the company’s flagship program targeted at unveiling authentic talents in music. It is where potential singers and rappers get the platform to build upon themselves for the Ghanaian music market.
At the official launching ceremony in Accra on Friday, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Guido Sopiimeh, said the MTN Hitmaker has remained the proprietary event of the company through which talents are identified, nurtured and economically empowered for careers in the music.
“As we launch Hitmaker Season 7, I will reiterate MTN’s commitment to its vision and mission “to lead the delivery of bold new digital world to our customers and also “make their lives whole lot brighter” with innovative services.
“We require all interested participants to visit the Google Play store to download the MTN App to register and upload their songs.
The registration will be opened for a period of 3 weeks during which applicants will be reviewed by renowned Beat Makers who will shortlist weekly winners for the semi-final stage of the competition,” he explained.
He said as part of the Hitmaker season 7, successful applicants mostly raw talents who make it to the semifinal stages are helped to improve on their skills and prepare them for the market.
“As part of the process, we are going to keep them at a boot camp where they will be groomed by a technical team made up of voice Coaches, Choreographers, a Music Director, Image Stylist and many more,” he stated.
He said the contestants will be taken through breathing exercise, speech improvement and other key techniques required to prepare them for the entertainment industry.
“At the boot camp, we will unveil the 12 finalists will compete for the ultimate prize of GH¢ 100,000 cedis recording deal. The unveiling event will kick start the 13 week reality TV show where they will get opportunity to showcase their talent to the world,” he explained.
This he said, to further promote the finalists, MTN will offer contestants access to digital tools to promote themselves by using MTN platforms on social media and other digital channels.
This is to help inculcate the use of digital marketing in our young musicians since that is where the world is moving towards.
He therefore urged persons in the creative arts industry to take advantage of the digital platforms created MTN to promote their works.
“The MTNPlay platform , the MTN Caller Caller Tunez service, the Kumawood app ,AMGO App, MTN Music Plus and host of other Valued Added Services are available to support your innovations and generate the require income you deserves. Take advantage of these platforms to remain relevant in the digital age,” he advised.
Since the launch of the MTN Hitmaker in 2012, we have successfully produced music talents such as Naterial (Season 1 Winner) Koo Ntakra (Season 2 winner), Togbe (Season 3 winner) Kidi (Season 4 Winner),Kurl Songz (Season 5 winner and Freda Rhymes (winner season 6)
And those who were unable to win the ultimate prize have successfully developed their careers through the training and exposure that MTN Hitmaker gives them. Such as Lynnx Entertainment icon, Kuami Eugene (MTN Hitmaker season 5 contestant).
