Today, December 26, 2018 marks the 39th birthday of Ghanaian songstress and music diva Miss Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, popularly known as Mzbel and she has decided to celebrate the day at her residence with the disability community.
Over 35 persons with disabilities, and close family members, as well as members of the media and other celebrities formed the list that graced the occasion. They were treated to delicious African cuisines, drinks and some live dance and music performances by Mzbel and friends. There were also photo sections with all invited guests.
The Network o Journalists for the Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disability in Africa (PromoAfrica), on February 14, 2018 conferred on Mzbel the envious title of Music Ambassador Disability. This followed her interest in helping supporting the underprivileged in society among others.
Dubbed “Mzbel’s all-white birthday bash with Persons With Disability”, Mzbel says it is also an opportunity for her to announce the next phase of her project, which is a disability reality show expected to take Africa by storm starting in 2019.
Francis Adjetey Sowah, the Founder and Executive Director of Ghana Disabled Fellowship International in an exclusive interview with TodayGhanaNews, expressed gratitude to Mzbel for remembering them as special guest at her birthday, which in other sense she could have organized for the more privilege and well to do in society, instead, she chose to share the day with the underprivileged and it made them felt special.
“Mzbel epitomizes hope for our future and unbridled zeal and tenacity and socialization,” he stated.
Francis Adjetey Sowah, who is also the President of the Amputee Football Federation of Africa and the Chief Executive officer of EcotechGhana Technology and Ecological Company Limited, said they are overwhelmed by the love of songstress Mzbel for bringing inscrutable smiles to their faces at such a time. “It’s appropriate we join and wish her a 39th Happy Birthday celebration”.
“She is one of the impeccable, quintessential women within the music industry who have us at heart for such a project with us. By extending a warm of friendship to enable us wine and dine with her is adorable, which goes a long way to motivate us, give us a sense of humor and belongingness.
“We are encouraged by her exploits and tenacity and intuitive skills and we anticipate that with one accord, she’ll be steadfast in integrity and sacrifice,” he added.
As PromoAfricas Music Ambassador on Disability, Mzbel has the responsibility to help raise funds to support the activities of the Association, including raising funds for the training of journalists on the African Unions (AU) Charter on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Her appointment as a Special Music Ambassador is based on her long-time experience, exposure and influence in the arts, cultural and music industry in Ghana, coupled with her enthusiasm to work with the underprivileged, the marginalized, women and children in Ghana.
As Special Ambassador, she also has the task of helping positively promote the rights of PWDs in Ghana and Africa and work closely with PROMOAFRICA’s projects three years.
