National Security Minister to appear before Parliament over insecurity concerns

Parliament has invited the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah, to appear before it to apprise members on general terrorism concerns, and also update the House on the two former Guantanamo Bay detainees.

The meeting with the Minister will be held in camera.

The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, stated this on the Floor of Parliament, when he read the Business Statement for this week.

The House has also scheduled the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, to attend upon the House to brief the Lawmakers on the total amount collected from media representatives for covering the 2016 General Election, as well as replacement of lost and misplaced ID cards and how the amount was applied.

The Minister of Finance and other officials will also engage Parliament this week on the implementation of the Value Added Tax Amendment Act 2017, Act 948.

Ten Ministers of State are also expected to attend upon the House this week to answer questions on communications, Health, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs among others.
