Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, the Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo constituency in the Graeter Accra region, has indicated his readiness to contest for the flagbearership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2020 general elections in Ghana. However, he said this will only happen should former president John Dramani Mahama decides not to contest for the position in the party’s primaries in 2020.
Nii “Okumka” Lantey made the stunning revelation at the ‘People’s Forum’ when he was accounting for his stewardship to the people of the Constituency; an event organized under the auspices of the Concerned Youth of Odododiodoo.
The MP- full of youthful exuberance boasted of being the one capable of beating President Akufo- Addo in the 2020 general elections when elected to lead the largest opposition party.
In a related development, the legislature pleaded with the government to continue projects began by the Mahama led NDC administration to achieve its purpose of developing the capital city, Accra.
“If the Sraha market is completed and put into use, it will serve the entire people irrespective of their political affiliations,” he stated, adding that “this should not be politicised at all”.
Edwin Nii Lantey, was disappointed that the Nana Addo led NPP government ordered the demolishing of old parliament house for an entirely new project without proper consultation with stakeholders. He threatened to petition the speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye when the Fourth parliament resumes from recess.
He opined that, “as the Member of Parliament for the area i wasn’t aware of the demolition. The same applies to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), which is authorized to supervise all demolition exercises in Accra”.
