A Youth Activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who is also a private researcher and Constituency Executive hopeful in the Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region, Dan K. Jerry Sorokpo, has appealed to all NDC grassroot comrades across the country to vote for hardworking and dedicated persons at the on-going nationwide branch elections so as to ensure massive victory come 2020.
According to him, electing strong, selfless, voluntary and fearless people into office as branch executives will help mobilize voters from every home for the NDC in the next national elections.
He emphasized that since the elections are won at branch levels, there is the need to elect fearless and good branch executives to monitor the polling agents of other political parties before and during the elections.
“All NDC comrades at the grassroot level must desist from selfish interest during this branch election exercise and think about the party first, by coming to consensus to elect active members to handle branches for Victory in the 2020 general elections”.
Mr. Sorokpo further appealed to “the grassroot members not to sell their conscience to any grassroot leaders for their future personal advantage which can bring confusion into the on-going branch election across the country.
“The victory of NDC in 2020 is loading therefore no grassroot member should create confusion leading to apathy within the party because of their selfish interests.”
He however, cautioned all NDC grassroot branch aspirants to adhere strictly to NEC guidelines outlined for branch election in accordance with the Party’s constitution.
He also charged the NDC National Executive Committee (NEC) to be proactive in discharging their duties “in this crucial period without any favouritism that would disrupt the election guidelines and peace at grassroot base.
“Both old and new branch executives should not see themselves as enemies after branch elections, rather consider themselves as one family under one umbrella thereby sharing ideas and strategies together for victory,” he stated.
Dan Sorokpo, said “the opposition NDC Party doesn’t need anything apart from unity, hardworking, ahead of 2020 general election,” adding that, “forget about past differences and work hard after branch elections”.
He believed that, “The NPP government will lose the 2020 general election massively due their own unprecedented promises, deceits and above all gargantuan corruption cover ups in this administration. The 2020 general election will be a history in Ghana’s democracy as electorates vote this Government out just after 4 years”.
He called on the NDC leadership and Ghana Institute of Social Democrat (GISD) to promptly organize compulsory party leadership courses and workshops for the newly elected branch executives across the country to equip them effectively for grassroot mobilization towards victory ahead.
