As at 1700GMT on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, some 73 members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had picked forms from the Central Regional office to contest for executive positions in their upcoming Regional contest.

All the 73, comprising both males and females, are expected to submit their forms between July, 23 and 24, 2018 as they eye to fill up the eighteen executive positions needed to steer the affairs of the party in the region for the next four years.

Nurudeen Kobina Issah, the party’s regional director of elections, in an interview with ghananewsonline.com.gh at the party’s office on Wednesday refused to mention the various positions the 73 persons are contesting, saying, “we’re not interested in who contests for which position for now so we don’t ask them the positions they intend vying for….our job now is to give out the forms.”

“So the answer to your question, ‘which positions do these 73 people want to contest’? will come after 24th July, [2018], that’s after filing,” he explained.

Posters of some of the aspirants were however seen postered all over the place.

Among the names were former Central regional minister and Mfantseman Member of Parliament, Aquinas T. Quansah for the regional chairmanship position, S.L. Kakra Yarley – chairmanship, Henry Kweku Hayfron, the immediate past Mfantseman Municipal Chief Executive, secretary, and Theophilus Adu Mensah; former Gomoa West District Chief Executive who is also going for regional vice chairmanship position.

The party, on June 23, held its constituency congress to elect the constituency executives. The regional congress is slated for August 25, 2018.

The incumbent regional chairman, Allotey Jacobs has already declared his intention not to contest .
