The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Diaspora supporters Union is calling for the immediate resignation of the chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Mrs. Jean Mensah, for her open love towards the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to a press statement issued on December 27, 2018, and signed by its Chairman, Seth K. Addi, the group lamented that recently Madam Jean Mensah was sighted in a widely circulated video parting at a purely partisan NPP female appointee’s event organized by the Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway.

He said, the NDC Diaspora Supporters Union, takes serious displeasure of over her open association with the NPP and her regularity at such partisan events.

“Why is the chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission always punctual at every single function organized by the NPP?” he asked

The statement said Mrs. Jean Mensah’s open and flagrant display of love and affection for the NPP must not be glossed over.

“This is not a neutral character. Her unprofessional conduct is not acceptable and must not be entertained.

“We supporters of NDC in the diaspora don’t trust her to organize a free, fair and credible election in 2020. We are fully aware that she was only appointed by President Akufo-Addo to the position to execute the NPP’s agenda; to rig the 2020 general elections.

They called on the leadership of the NDC, to mobilize the masses to agitate for the removal of this bias character from the EC to safeguard our young and fragile democracy from the clutches of evil politicians.

“Images of the multiple voting being done at this referendum make us confirm that this EC Chairperson will be the panic button to be hit hard to hurt Ghana’s democracy. Time to act for her removal is now!”
