The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament and NDC Flagbearer Hopeful, Alban S. K. Bagbin, is hopeful of winning the race slated for January 26, 2019.
He said he cannot wait for the NDC to get back the power they gave away in 2016, however, for the NDC to win Election 2020 they must first win the battle for the soul of the party.
Addressing hundreds of his followers who accompanied him to submit his nomination forms at the Party Headquarters on Monday, December 17, 2018, Bagbin reteirated,
“My brothers and sisters, for us to win Election 2020 we MUST win Election 2019, by electing ASK Bagbin in the Primaries.
“We have a dire need as a Party to beat a path back to our roots and to once again hold high the core values and principles that made the NDC the beacon of HOPE and the Party of choice,” hr stated.
Hr said “Let us once again walk down the path of, Humility, Love, Care, Kindness, Fairness and Social Justice.
“There is an African proverb that admonishes us, it says, ‘if you do not know where you are going, any road will take you there’. Our destination is Victory in Election 2020. The road to take us there is ASK Bagbin! The Man you can depend on”.
Alban Bagbin pledged to reinvigorate and revitalise the Party by bringing back the ideals that brought them together in the first place as well as to restore the power that has been taken away from the rank and file by empowering the Branch and Constituency members of the Party to enable it win the 2020 General Elections and remain in office for a minimum of 16 years.
He noted that “this is to ensure that our Great Party has time to fully implement the policies and programs for the rapid development of the country”.
The Nadowle/Kaleo MP promised to “conduct a virtuous, decorous, civil and mature campaign.
“I will continue to share my ideas and the right information with members of the Party to enable them make the right decisions towards restoring the lost glory of our Party”.
Furthermore, “I assure you that protecting the supreme interest of the Party will be our uppermost guide in all we do.
“We will continue to court a working, harmonious and truthful partnership with every person and group who shares our vision. We especially crave a partnership with the true Leaders of our Nation: our Traditional, Religious and Civil Society Leaders in Ghana. This pledge is borne out by my unshakable belief that Politicians alone cannot develop Ghana”.
The Second Deputy speaker was accompanied by Fritz Baffour, Director of Communications and Campaign Manager as well as MP for Yunyoo Joseph Naabu, and others.
The Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in his address cautioned aspirants and their supporters to be decorous and respect themselves as they campaign.
He however, assured that, the Leadership of the Party will provide a level playing field to all aspirants and that they must abide by rules and guidelines as set out for the conduct of the election.
