The United NPP Youth, a vibrant identifiable group within the NPP has unanimously endorsed the candidature of John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming NDC flagbearership race slated for December 7, 2018.
Justifying their overwhelming support for the immediate past president of the republic of Ghana, who polled 44.4% in the 2016 general election, the president of the group (UNY), Nana Kwadwo Pippim, told the host of Okese FM’s morning show programme dubbed “Okese Dawuro” in an exclusive interview that “JM” as affectionately called, is more popular and financially supreme than his fellow aspirants in the race, hence, a victory for him in their internal election will be a mere formality, but ultimately, a humiliating defeat will entangle him in the 2020 election because of Nana Addo’s impressive performance and impeccable track record within the past 19 months.
“JM has amassed a lot of wealth within the past years serving as member of parliament, minister, vice president and president. This indisputably gives him financial and popularity urge over his opponents in their flagbearership race. However, his abysmal performance as a “lame horse” and “one term” president that brought untoward hardships to Ghanaians will mastermind another humiliating defeat for him and the rejected NDC in the 2020 election.”
“Am convinced Ghanaians will renew NPP’s mandate in 2020, but a potential return of John Mahama on the ticket of NDC, will only make NPP’s victory comfortable, resounding and unassailable.”
John Dramani Mahama has finally declared his intention to contest nine other aspirants including Prof Joshua Alabi (former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies — Accra), Hon Alban Bagbin (2nd deputy speaker of parliament and MP for Nadoli Kaleo constituency), Sylvester Mensah (former CEO of National Health Insurance Authority) and Dr Ekow Spio Garbrah (former minister of trade and industry), in an internal contest that is billed to be the most fiercest in the party’s history since the fourth republic.
