Owing to the much anticipated parliamentary primaries ahead of next year’s general elections, a renowned educationist and an astute member of the National Democratic Congress in the Ho Central Constituency, Edem Kofi Kpotosu, popularly known as ‘Makosa’ has declared his intention to contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries on the ticket of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). A man believed to be a unifier and an agent of development and initiatives in the constituency.
In a comment with the finest television station in the Volta region V1TV, Edem Kofi Kpotosu said his decision to contest for the seat is informed by several requests made by the youth in the constituency, both on grounds of his unifying spirit and his passion for youth development. He said the constituency under the incumbent legislator has not witnessed much development and the creation of opportunities for youth development and physical infrastructure, and that is why he intends to contest the Ho Central seat.
“indeed , I took this bold decision to contest for the parliamentary primaries because most of the youth, by virtue of my past leadership qualities , openness, vivaciousness, affability, dedication and my outspokenness among a host of others , have called on me to contest for the parliamentary primaries in order to effect a change in the constituency.
“It will interest listeners to also note that , I was a teacher at Ho Dome RC JHS Here in Ho where I even taught one of my contestants ,Stanley Nelvis Glate. I further went to teach at Mawuli Senior High School here in the same constituency. I also served in the capacity of the Human Resource Manager for the Catholic Education Unit, Volta, here in Ho.
“Throughout my teachings in the constituency, I impacted quite a number of lives and gave hope to many in the constituency when it came to the passion to teach, advice as well as sponsorship. I founded the ‘Pacesetter Drama Club’ and also founded the only drama theatre in the Volta Region during my tenure of teaching in Mawuli School and today, Mawuli school can boast of producing the finest dramatists, actors and actresses from the constituency and the nation at large when it comes to arts and drama
“Besides that, I have also sponsored a number of students to continue their tertiary education among others. I made sure I find some job for graduates who approached me in request of jobs after their education because most of these graduates you and I believe are the eyes of their families. I am currently the regional Welfare officer of the Ghana Education Service,” Makossa said .
When asked if he is confident of securing the trust of the constituency delegates, he said
“I am very much confident of securing the trust of the delegates because my impact in the constituency and the party at large has given me enough hope that I can secure a win as the parliamentary candidate. The incumbent MP, Hon Benjamin Kpodo many believe has not impressed them over these few years. I’m hopeful of materialising the trust of the good people when given the nod, besides my other contestant I spoke about geared towards the growth and unity of the Ho Central Constituency from next year (2020) and beyond .
He expressed his appreciation to the constituency executives for the tremendous support shown him by far and pledged his commitment to respond to them whenever he’s being called upon .
