An outspoken and a controversial student activist who has been championing unity in the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) for quite sometime now, Oscar Komla Bedzra, has again openly stated his stance on the call for unity in the mother student union of Ghana.
The aspirant made this known following a communiqué signed and released by fifteen (15) Local NUGS executives from different tertiary institutions in Ghana.
The communiqué is titled, “UNITED NUGS, CHANGE MUST BE TRIGGERED”.
In it, the undersigned stakeholders clearly stated their displeasure regarding the development saying, they have and will refuse to represent a divided house .
They further hinted that, pending reply from the leadership, they expect a positive reply from the National leadership of the union before August 15, other than which they will advice themselves on the way forward ahead of the Union’s congress.
Below are the excerpts of the Communiqué.
*CHANGE MUST BE TRIGGERED*
NUGS started somewhere in 1948 as National Union of Gold Coast Students but was officially recognized as National Union of Ghana Students in 1965.
NUGS is non partisan, non religious students’ movement, that seeks to protect the interest and welfare of students in Ghana and Ghanaian students abroad and Offer a national platform for a single voice of all students.
But indeed the opposite is true and the above mission, a hoax.
*We as stakeholders have registered our displeasure with the curvature of the current either administrations, owing to the breach in the constitution we have sworn to protect and defend (Article 4 a,b,c and 77)*
*We are by this communiqué, giving both sides an ultimatum to respond to this plea for unity in our noble Union before 15th August, 2018*
*Aside the above stated, we the undersigned stakeholders below have taken a firm decision and refuse to represent a divided house.*
