BasicNeeds-Ghana, a Non-Governmental health Organiation (NGO) has collaborated with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to sensitize the people of Nungua Krowor community on how to handle people living with disabilities.
Nora Stevenson, a community health Nurse at the Lekma Hospital said people living with mental health are vulnerable and need proper care, love, and affection.
She stressed on how people in the community called them by names and also sending them to spiritual church camps and traditional herbalists instead of sending them to psychiatric hospitals for proper diagnosis to make them healthy.
She advised the general public not to lock them in the room but help them to go for regular check-ups and also make sure they take their medications well to enable them live a normal life.
