Years of neglect of the Okuapeman Senior High School in the Eastern Region has led to the degeneration of the school’s infrastructure to the point that its road network has become a minefield of potholes for visually impaired students.

WhatsUp News has verified reports that the roads in the school have become unusable, because of years of serious dilapidation. The state of disrepair shows that the asphalt coat is almost gone, with a patchwork of deep pot holes left in its place.

This coupled with open drains on the school campus has reportedly become a booby trap for students, especially those who are visually impaired.

WhatsUp News has heard that Government had made moves to engage a contractor to fix the roads of the school, but the contractor has apparently not been working.

Nobody, including the Headmaster, even knows who the contractor is.
The result is a state of abandonment to the distress of students, especially visually impaired ones.

Okuapeman SHS is a 62 year old institution which has produced some of the biggest newsmakers in Ghana, including Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, the man credited with Ghana’s decentralization Governance system.
Other prominent alumni of the school are Amb. Samuel Dadey and popular morning show host at Peace FM Kwame Sefa Kayi.
