The driver of an LT van carrying eggs towards the Accra end of the Kumasi- Accra highway met his untimely death last night when he rammed into a stationary truck (Trailer-Long Vehicle) loaded with what is believed to be onions at a village called Atwedie, near Ejisu in the Ashanti region.
The drivers mate who is said to be in very critical condition has been rushed to the hospital after residents of the village and some other road users forced open the crushed vehicles door to remove his severely injured body.
No form of directional sign was seen around the stationary vehicle.
The incident which occurred around 10:20 pm Monday night created a temporal traffic congestion on both sides of the highway.
The crushed lifeless body of the driver soaked in pool of blood was seen on the floor just behind the trailer which caused the unfortunate accident on the highway whiles the LT van which is mangled at the front lies on the opposite side of the road.
Residents of Atwedie village helped to remove the LT van from the road to restore traffic flow.
As at the the time of leaving the scene at around 11:00 pm to file this report, the body was still lying there with no Police presence.
